The irony is although a crash dieter will be malnourished due to not getting enough vitamins, minerals and vital nutrients from food, food will consume their thoughts for much of the time.
Rapid weight loss is often seen during a crash diet and while this may be perceived as a positive thing the reality is that water and muscle mass, as well as fat is being lost.
When a person returns to normal eating after a period of calorie restriction they will inevitably gain weight as their body tries to replenish its fat reserves.
The result will be a higher percentage of body fat than before. And so begins the ‘yo-yo’ diet effect.
People who crash diet to lose weight end up putting even more weight back on and have to diet again.
It’s a vicious circle, and long-term, the crash dieter can end up in a worse situation than before.
Lose Weight the Healthy Way
For someone who needs to lose weight, a crash diet or any kind of diet designed to help them lose weight quickly is not the answer.
Seek professional advice from a doctor or nutritionist about diet and exercise.
By losing weight safely and slowly you stand a much better chance of maintaining the new weight. If you don’t have to starve yourself, then don’t.
Crash diet plans have helped a few people to lose weight but not without a price.
The body is clearly not designed for such drastic and volatile changes especially not for a sustained period of time.
Maintaining such a harsh dieting plan can prove to be detrimental to your overall health and may cause long-term complications.
Before attempting this or any other diet plan consult with your Physician.
The overall goal is to lose weight but you want to do it in a way that will not cause any health concerns.
